How to harvest

Blueberries are red when they are green—in other words, don’t pick them until they are dark blue!

Blueberries are ready to harvest beginning in early July through August, depending on the variety.

Pick blueberries over many days, so that you can get the ripest fruit each day. Berries should come away from the plant easily.

Eat fresh or freeze them. Make blueberry jam or bake them in a pie.

Varieties to grow

Small: Northsky, Chippewa, Top Hat

Early: Patriot, Spartan

Midseason: Bluecrop, Bluegold

Late season: Darrow, Jersey

Evergreen: Sunshine Blue
